CTA announces PS3 Assault Rifle, dignity sold separately
CTA may be best known for its endless array of kid-friendly Wii accessories, but it's not forgetting about the grown-up gamers out there -- or, at least, grown-ups who enjoy shooting plastic guns in their living rooms. Its latest product is the $65 Assault Rifle for the PlayStation 3, which promises to add a whole new degree of "realism and excitement" to games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 -- oh, and it also makes sound effects even when you're not playing a game. Head on past the break for the video.
CTA Digital Offers Realistic Gaming Experience with First-Ever Assault Rifle Controller for PS3
With the first of its kind Assault Rifle Controller for the PlayStation 3 available for purchase, CTA Digital outfits serious gamers with the right accessory for realism and excitement during first-person shooter games. Fully compatible with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and other FPS games, the Assault Rifle Controller will take gaming to a new level.
BROOKLYN, NY – In the past, war games on the PlayStation 3 lacked that necessary bit of realism; namely, the feel of a rifle during simulated combat and the ability to shoot with the trigger. For the first time ever, PlayStation 3 gamers now have the perfect peripheral for battle with CTA Digital's newly- available Assault Rifle Controller, adding never-before realism to first-person shooter games.
With the look of an assault rifle and lightweight construction for ease of use, this accessory allows gamers to get down on the floor in full sniper pose and wreak havoc in their favorite first-person shooter games, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and Call of Duty: World at War, and all other shooter games. Designed with modern warfare in mind, the Assault Rifle's trigger functions as the R1 button for realistic "reaction" game-play. Each OEM Sony PlayStation controller button is represented on the Assault Rifle, including the D-pad, PS button, start and select buttons, and clickable thumb sticks for strafing, running, steadying the weapon, and exploring the game environment. Gamers can pull the trigger with one hand and press the controller buttons with the other to shoot enemy combatants and move through the gaming environment. The Rifle comes with a removable scope and stock.
The Assault Rifle also features a built-in speaker with realistic sound effects that can be turned on and off for a fun game play experience. By pulling the trigger, the Rifle emits single shot, three-shot burst, and fully automatic sound effects to complement the on-screen action that can be activated even when the Rifle isn't synced with the PlayStation 3.
Setting up the Rifle is as easy as pushing a button. Gamers simply plug in the USB dongle key to their PlayStation 3 units, and then press the home button on the Rifle for wireless synchronization. Four LED lights display controller port selection.
The Rifle is powered with two AA batteries and has an on/off switch to conserve power. Each package includes the Assault Rifle controller, USB dongle key, scope, and stock. The Rifle itself is available at Amazon (http://tinyurl.com/38ha6oe) and many retail outlets. You can check out the video demo of the Assault rifle here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwxM11zYF2M).

@Raremind You forgot the part where they video themselves destroying it with hammers and posting to youtube.
wait, stop, it's just a normal controller in gun shape?
the fuck?
also, what the fuck is with the gun sounds, are you serious?
We could win the war in Afghanistan now. Pew pew pew to you Taliban.
Worthless. Its just a controller that looks like a gun.
Things like this explain why console players get owned by PC players xD
I dunno what's worse, this or the stupid resident evil chainsaw controller that came out years ago.
I got that thing as a christmas gift and immediately took it in for store credit. I was shocked at how much my cousins paid for it... I think it was close to $50.
man as soon as i saw this i was thinking badass point and shoot with laser sight. now i see its not even an NES Zapper! WTF we had better game gun years ago!
Duck hunt has thing beat!!!
Screw their noises, everyone knows you hold a toy gun and go "Pew, pew pew pew!" on your own anyway.
I don't like it, it's useless and boring if it doesn't have an accelerator
The sounds... are SO realistic... BRRRRRRR :P

Wow in the video they kept saying "Designed for Modern Warfare 2" as they were playing Battlefield Bad Company 2. This thing is worthless if you can't move the gun to control the player. I was expecting it to be a playstation move type thing, but instead you just stand there holding it using it as a clunky, oversized ps3 controller.
I'm honestly trying to think of a dumber game add-on and I can't. Sure there have been some stupid stuff released over the last 30+ years. But I think this one tops them all (the U-Control comes in a distant 2nd).
@Captain Caveman
Nah, the wii go-kart is pretty much still up there..would like to see a gun controller done PROPER, not this knock off crap.
I was excited when I first saw it, then I realized you can't aim with it, it's just a plastic gun with buttons on it, what's the point of this thing if you can't aim it! useless!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Cool concept, but if you can't aim the rifle without aiming with the thumbsticks, it doesn't really adds much to the experience.
hold on a sec
so you're aiming with the analogue stick or with actual gun?
cuz if your aiming with the second, its simply stupid
and saaaaaad
gayy i thought it was motion controlled.
That "soldier" in the photo should totally be standing behind the bush.
