"
Fixes a phenomenon in which the set aperture moves when shooting movies in manual exposure mode using some Canon lenses (such as macro lenses)." If you've got a
5D Mark II,
1D Mark IV, or
Rebel T2i handy and have been keeping its firmware fresh, that phrase should be all too familiar; all three of those shooters have received updates in the past two months to fix such an issue, and now it's time for the EOS 7D to get a fix all its own. Our darling
budding filmmakers' tool is also getting a few tweaks with AF point display and selection, and the multilingual copy editors of this world can breathe a deep sigh of relief as typos in the Spanish and Thai menus have been corrected. Well, what are you waiting for? Focus your lens on Canon's website and download away.
sweet... i just wished i had the camera to update now that i have the firmware
@inspiron41 ha for sure. i've been eyeing one of these for a little bit now.
@system22 they're pretty good from what i heard.
@inspiron41 yeah same. a few people at work got them and are turning out some really amazing stuff. priced better than the 5d so it makes it (slightly) more realistic for me ;)
@inspiron41
I just bought a 550D (T2i/Kiss X4) last week. Its awesome, totally worth every penny I'd saved for it. Am I glad I didnt have enough cash when the 500D (T1i/Kiss X3) came out.
Lamers at Canon cant add a few lines of code in their firmware update to allow for Manual Gain Control...apparently spending $1,800 on your camera isn't enough to deserve control of your audio recording volume.
that's a camera, all right
Good stuff. Love my 7D. Just wish it were FF and had fewer (larger) pixels for increased ISO sensitivity.
@liquidkernel - if it was, then it would be a 5D
@Conquistador 5D Mk II, actually. 5D can't do video. 5D Mk II was out of my price range... that and I would have to lose my Sigma 10-20mm DC lens (made for APS-C sensors).
@liquidkernel,
And the 5D Mark II only has one Digic IV processor while the 7D has two. This allows slow-motion video (720p at 60fps) and shooting pics at twice the frame rate. The 7D also has a pop-up flash (which of course is of limited value, but nice to have), and better UI/controls and weather sealing.
In other words, I'm glad I got the 7D...I'm glad I got the 7D...I'm glad I got the 7D...
/rocking back and forth
@liquidkernel SUCK ON MY TOKINA 11-16MM f/2.8 ! ! !
Awww... APS-C only too =[
We're both screwed.
@Philip Han Ooo, Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 FTW. Very fast lens. What keeps me from using the Sigma 10-20 as more of a walk-around lens is that it's too slow (f/4).
@macslut
I just bought one of these bad boys .. and wow .. the noise filter is .. well crap .. want sharp images .. then bypass this camera .. man i am so disappointed with this thing . my 450D/XSI is sharper .. £1200 pissed up the wall IMHO
That's a rather large picture for a small article.
So how long before it can play Doom?
@Teslanaut It can run Crysis with its Dual DIGIC Processors.
I
I HATE you EOS 7D!!!
I told a buyer I would hold his check for $1000 so he could take a few days to check out my hardly used Canon GL-2 camcorder. He happened to find out about the 7D, and compared the video results. I had to give his check back because he now wants the EOS 7D.
@Urrl
wow, that story rocks. have you tried to get it published?
How about manual video controls for the T1i :(
@zim2411
man. i've been holding on to the hopes that my t1i will some day get that much needed firmware update. for crying out loud, canon! can we at least get 24p to go along with that "full movie 1080" mode?! :(
I swear I get an unusual amount of atmosphere on my 7D
How about canon changes around a little code and allows us some more frame rates, maybe programmable to like 1 a second or 1 a minute so we can crank out some time lapse photography?
Also why not add a firmware update that allows us to shoot more than three shots in AEB?!? I would never buy a nikon but even there lower end cameras can so that, and I just dropped some cash on canons most expensive aps-c camera and I can only take three?
Come on... That's lame
