@anus1220 Especially when you realize another manufacturer like LG/Samsung etc..is actually making it, and you could probably buy the same thing for half (or 3/4)the price without the Apple shell.
@avinash240 Haha that's what I was getting at. You're really paying for the housing because the display isn't Apple made, it's probably Samsung/LG or maybe even Sharp made.
You'll find there's only ONE monitor out there that actually matches it spec-wise (resolution / screen size / inputs, etc) and thats one made by Dell which sells for over $1k.
If you consider that the only other displays with close to this resolution are 30" displays that cost quite a bit more then this isn't that bad. Though then again you can often get 30" displays at this price with higher resolution so...
@midnightblade ...Sooo shiny! If this has a glass panel though.... Sometimes I wonder what goes through Jobs' mind. That turtleneck must be cutting off circulation.
@eli actually all those things you listed can be had in a $500 display the only thing that makes this thing expensive is the ips panel since all ips panels are costly
@Mikeserena Not really. I'd say it's worth it because of the DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, Composite, Component and VGA inputs. Also the stands height is adjustable, it has a card reader, and an additional USB port.

@avinash240 hmmm...If this is REALLY an IPS monitor then 999 is a decent price. I have a 30 inch Dell IPS at work and they run 1600 bucks.
@anus1220 comparison shop it right now.

But it says Apple!

Because of the unicorn blood and tears of elves.
Seriously though I just can't justify their pricing scheme.

@eli
Yep, Dell U2711. It's usually on sale for ~$900 so yeah, it's priced right.
@avinash240
+1.
This thing is a real deal as a monitor alone, then you get a full computer built in to it. I think $999 is a steal.
@James Sonne You do know that the $999 is for the Cinema Display only right? The iMac's are another product which start at $1199.
@James Sonne
Woops, thought I saw this was the iMac, not jsut the display. Still a good price for the display.
@James Sonne
are you an idiot this is only a display it is not an iMac
@James Sonne Now $999 for an iMac would be a good deal.
@DefPoet
ok not a idiot just read to fast situation averted
@DefPoet really? where is the 27" $500 display with this resolution you speak of?
@avinash240
So why is the Dell more expensive than the Apple, are you paying more for the Dell shell.
@avinash240 What do you mean by REALLY? It is an IPS panel.
@Mikeserena Not really. I'd say it's worth it because of the DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, Composite, Component and VGA inputs. Also the stands height is adjustable, it has a card reader, and an additional USB port.
