Eurocom debuts Optimus-equipped B5100M FOX, B7110 FOX gaming laptops
Last we heard from Eurocom, it was touting its massive, workstation-class X8100 Leopard "laptop," and its now back with a pair of models that are considerably more consumer-friendly -- and gamer-friendly, specifically. Those include the 15.6-inch B5100M FOX and 17.3-inch B7110 FOX, which each pack NVIDIA's Optimus graphics-switching technology (complete with a GeForce GT330M GPU), and a range of other fully customizable options that cover the mid to high-end -- your choice of Core i3, i5 or i7 processors, up to 16GB of DDR3 RAM, and support for two hard drives for up to 1.6TB of storage, to name just a few options. Of course, prices will vary wildly depending on the config, but you can grab the base 15.6-inch model for $999, or the 17.3-incher for $1,199.

I thought gaming computers were suposed to be cool looking.
@Scrubs
it is , nice specs and good price . if its well built too , then its would be decent , not everything has to look like a stealth fighter laptop lol.
@Scrubs
I prefer the understated look myself. just in case you need to take it to a board meeting or something like that. Hard to get the corporate cred with a neon orange laptop with pictures of aliens on it. :-D
@Scrubs
Not really, most look just like normal laptops, only bigger. The only laptops that I've seen with a distinct design are Alienwares.
@i8urCookies
Yeah, but for your average gamer, this looks a little meh next to an alienware.
@Scrubs if by Meh you mean not gaudy and a anti-female beacon then yes, this laptop is very meh.
(and people wonder why tech enthusiasts have a reputation for bad taste in style)
@SirNoDroin that was supposed to say "not gaudy anti-female beacon"
@Firewave Some of the Asus Republic of Gamers laptops have a distinct design, my G73 being one of them. It isn't over the top like AW, though.
@scots79 that stealth fighter is awesome!!
that price is in $CAD
looks more like a business laptop, from 2007.
@rommel
all the designers have shifted there focus on tablets, mobile and streak.
@rommel still better then some hunk of unnaturally colored plastic
@SirNoDroin
I was talking about:
Original Alienware and VoodooPc Envy were legends.
Clevo for the Win ! :D
@Black
Engadget's constant posting of re-badge crap like Eurocom annoys the shit out of me. Just let us know when Clevo announces it!! Where's the article that Sager released the same damned thing? Why the constant promotion of Eurocom?
@Ken J
I'm not quite sure that Engadget realizes that most of these gaming laptops are rebadged Clevo, MSI, or Compal machines.
Same specs as a Macbok pro 15 inch
@Cainhunpi the Macbook has the 320M this is the GT320M, they are different cards (the GT is better)
@Cainhunpi whoops sorry, thats the 13'' with the lesser card, you are right, they are pretty much the same laptop.
@Cainhunpi Except it costs nearly half as much.
I still prefer the asus G73jx for specs and price. Nvidia geforce 320m is lame compared to the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5830 installed in the g73.
330m rather. still lame though.
@kornfan Won't this have nearly double the battery life though?
@thanksbetotap probably. but for gamers, battery life was never really a selling point; well, for me anyway
@kornfan It's 5870 on that sweet baby. The performance of 5870 is way better!!
Seems expensive until you compare it to a macbook 0.o
DX10 Gaming Laptop = FAIL !
Who buys expensive hardware that is already obsolete ?
Fools and Apple fanboys...
^_^
DirectX..... I think you mean OpenGL. DX is Microsoft.
That's not a gaming laptop. You know why? Because the GT 330M isn't exactly a gaming gfx card:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-330M.22437.0.html
@TareG EXACTLY
that GPU isn't really good for gaming though, prefer Mobility Radeon 5870 or something close
@papaduke Yeah. 330M is lame for games
