HTC Droid Incredible finally returns to stock, not a moment too soon
If the rumors of an August 18th Android 2.2 update prove true, we'd say Verizon Wireless couldn't have picked a better time to get HTC's Droid Incredible back in stock. 'Course, we suspect you'll think differently if you've been waiting for your backorder to clear over the past few weeks, but we digress. As of this moment in time, the handset -- which has been tough to get thanks to AMOLED shortages -- is in stock and shipping as early as today, with an unchanged $199.99-on-contract price tag. Better hurry if you're looking to buy -- who knows when those panels will hit yet another production snag.

Awesome phone. :D Glad it's back.
This was a fucking ridiculous wait... Is there still a market on VZW for the incredible? I'm going to assume the holdouts jumped on the X
@ComboBreaker I know, I really wanted this phone, but I think I'll hold out for the Samsung Fascinate at this point.
There website says 8/17.
Hopefully the Fascinate has the GPS fixed before it ships, the EPIC won't and yes it is borked despite the bs tweaks.
@ComboBreaker That plus their switch from AMOLED.
@NuklearPanda this phone keeps getting better. With mobile hotspot and 720p recording being added. 3.7 inch size is perfect as it is still small yet has a decent size screen. Not sure why the X and EVO are praised so heavily bc of their screens since they essentially have the same resolution as their 3.7 inch siblings which means the same amount of info is displayed on both screens.
Save time. Have both a 4.3" screen and HTC Sense. How about some Froyo as well.
HTC Evo, available on the nations only & largest 4G network.
@tyrex I would pick this over a moto phone because you can flash a new rom on it.
@Wjackson25 Ha-ha. You sound like you work for Sprint.
I would get an Evo, but Sprint is no good around my area, especially at home.
@Wjackson25
I would get a Evo if only they were in stock somewhere. My Sprint store cant tell me when they are getting any more in, or at least that's what they tell me. Shame really, my Iphone 3g contract is up and there is money burning a hole in my wallet but apparently Sprint dont want it.
@Firesuite Tell them you're switching. Theyll "recheck" to see if they have any. :)
@EggoEspada I would if i was on sprint already, on ATT at the mo however.
@tyrex
Because it's easier to type on larger screens and let's face it, larger screens are just nicer for reading, browsing and watching videos.
Why would anyone buy this over the Galaxy S phones now?
@drunknmastr I'd rather have one than a Captivate. I've always found four inch screens to be a little too large, personally, and I like HTC Sense.
I mean, other than the screen and the software, what's the difference between an Incredible and a Captivate? They both run 1GHz processors, and while there are differences between a Hummingbird and a Snapdragon, I don't think they're major enough to make anyone choose one phone over the other. They have roughly the same amount of RAM, though I think the Incredible has slightly more than the Captivate. And HTC, while usually slow with software updates, do tend to release them eventually, while there are Samsung owners still waiting on promised updates for their phones.
Overall, both phones still seem pretty competitive.
@ComboBreaker I agree, took way to long to get back in stock. And in Android years, this baby is old and gray. Might take a look at it again, but now that I've seen the X and the new crop of phones coming out, the Incredible doesn't seem to quite live to up its adjective.
@Firesuite
i sell all of the carriers and the Evos are in such high demand that they are actually just overnighted to us through UPS rather than on a scheduled shipment. Its tough to not have it in stock when its so easy to sell.
If you stop in a best buy mobile tho they reopened preorders for the evo in black and white, along with the incredible and the x. So you can stop calling around to find it in stock and just wait for them to call you and say hey its here with your name on it./
@NuklearPanda
I didn't really see the point of them bringing the phone back since the Droid X came out.
@ComboBreaker Ick the x is terrible compared to the incredible. The store units are absolutely terrible rivaling the Eris for lag...
Not a fan of the screen either, " is that a droid x in your pocket or are you just happy to see me? If it's the latter you should go see the doctor..."
Plus sense is pretty shnazzy
@NuklearPanda does is still have that crappy screen you can't see outside or did they switch it to SAMOLED? Still think I might get an iPhone 4 as my next phone.
any thoughts on Incredible V.S. X?
@eagrimm
I own the incredible and have played with the x and really I think it just comes down to the size of your hands. I would rather have the x but see as I just got the incredible I have to deal
@cne84
I think it boiles down to:
HTC Sense > Moto blur
but
3.7 < 4.3
@eagrimm a friend of mine had the incredible when it first came out, then he used his girlfriends upgrade and got the x and gave her the incredible. He said the incredible was better, he returned the x and they both have the incredible.
@eagrimm
Thanks for the info!
@eagrimm
I like the X better, but the Incredible does have a better interface.
X's advantages: faster processor, much faster GPU, larger screen and slightly higher resolution, brighter screen (I can easily browse the web in direct sunlight as long as brightness is 100%), camera with 720p video, call quality, reception, and metal body compared with the Incredible's plastic body makes the X have superior build quality.
@Dadu I have the Droid X and I think the whole MotoBlur thing is a moot point if you install LauncherPro (I bought the Plus version because I really like the interface).
But if you want to know the differentiating factor, it's simple: Do you want the bigger screen or not? There are some who find the Droid X too big a device, and the Incredible is the better device for them.
And if you're the type of person who needs a physical keyboard, get the Droid 2. The point of Droid isn't to have the same type of phone re-released, but to provide OPTIONS.
@Dadu
I'll agree with you that sense is better than motoblur and in my opinion the only good skin that i'd use over stock android. But size of screens is totally up to the user, I personally think 4.3 is far too big for a phone and 3.7 is the sweet spot.
@Dadu Drop kick both sense and blur and just put launcherpro on those devices.
I have the evo, and man.. launcherpro is AMAZING... thank goodness we can customize our hearts out with Android.
(No you don't need root, just download from market.. very easy)
@eagrimm I got my Incredible early on and think its an excellent phone. The X's larger screen is definitely nice but for right now the 3.7 is perfect for me. I really think you'd be happy either way.
@Dadu
True, True
@Dadu 3.7" is not necessarily worse than 4.3", when it comes to a phone I want it to be slimmer, lighter, and more compact in general. Anything around 3.5"-3.7" (iPhone, Nexus One, Droid 2) I consider ideal... 4"+ is just overkill. That been said the Galaxy S still looks good.
Ready for froyo
I want one...thats on t-mobile.. =(
@RussellPeters -- no kidding; I'm on T-Mobes, and the Incredible is the only phone on another carrier that I REALLY wish I could have... (not leaving, tho)
Sold out again in 3...2...1...
@d0mth0ma5
get one while you can. Tihz fone iz teh bizznizz!!!
Looking at the huge amount of handsets still te be launched (for example the upcomming winphone 7 phones) it won't be long before it's sold out again. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if you can't buy a single phone in a couple of weeks/months
FAIL. It says it will ship tomorrow
Now we just need Froyo to make sure it arrives on the 18!
Incredible news
@HellFlyer I see what you did there.
@HellFlyer
Lol very nice
@Eminemdrdre00 Lol anon is everywhere
What's the chances that the Incredible will see a price drop sometime soon? I've been holding out to upgrade my original Droid, planned on buying the X but it's just too damn big. Now I'm looking at the Incredible but don't want to buy and have the price drop $50 in the next couple months when a new batch of phones come out.
And no, I don't want a Droid 2. I don't want a keyboard and it's too heavy. The Incredible is spot on.
@coffeedragon I'm in the same boat. Was considering waiting for the Droid Pro, its near perfect from what I've heard. I might just pick up an Incredible now and buy the tablet at the end of the year. I'll be satisfied.
Which would anyone else choose. Droid X or Droid Inc..?
@coffeedragon
A price drop on a phone they cant keep in stock is unlikely.
@coffeedragon Just wait. I have an iPhone 4 so it doesn't really apply to me since I'm not on VZW, but you're wasting your upgrade if you upgrade before the end of the year. LTE and a slew of 4G phones will be on their way near the end of the year and you don't want to be stuck with a phone you don't want anymore for the next 2 years. So just save it.
I still think the Droid Incredible is the most well rounded android device on Verizon. The Droid X is a little too large to fit in most pockets without sticking out with a bulge. Also the locked bootloader on the X and Droid 2 suck compared to the instant 1 click root available on the Incredible. Battery life can be fixed on the incredible by getting the 1500mh HTC battery that can be found online for $15.
@tyrex
Actually Droid X is now rooted and custom bootloaders can now be installed. Customs roms are being developed as we speak.
The incredible is a graet phone but the screen is too small. Droidx may be too big with 4.3" but 3.7" is too small. I think a nice 4" screen will be the sweet spot.
