How Microsoft got into cellphones

If you've ever wondered why exactly Microsoft started making software for cellphones
(you know, beyond the usual stuff about wanting to take over the world), the LA Times has an abridged history
of how they got into the cellphone game. The part most people don't know about is that back in 1998 Microsoft
tried to convince Nokia to partner with them and sort of divvy up the cellphone world between
themselves, but Nokia rebuffed them and ended up joining up with Ericsson, Motorola, and others to create a little
venture called Symbian.
