Time-Warner's HD digital video recorder/cable box?
We're not even gonna get into how much people dislike the Explorer 8000, the combination cable box/digital video recorder Time-Warner Cable offers to its subscribers, but we're hearing that in a few weeks they're planning to rollout Scientific Atlanta's new version of the box, the Explorer 8000HD, which can record high-definition broadcasts. It's only going to have a 120GB hard drive, which might sound like a lot until you realize how much extra space you need to record high-definition TV, but supposedly it'll eventually be possible to add extra hard drive space via its FireWire port.
