Skinnier CRT TVs with Samsung's new 32cm tube
While CRT (tube) TV's are brighter, cheaper, and give sharper pictures over plasma and rear projection displays, the thickness (usually 50 or 60cm deep) is a major buzzkill, so Samsung has developed a CRT tube that is just 35cm deep, something which makes it possible to build a 32-inch TV with a depth of just 38cm (which is on par with rear projection thickness). Manufacturing of the 32-inch is set to begin this year, and Samsung is scoping a full line of these thinner CRT that'll be able to compete with all the skinny LCD and plasma TVs out there.
