The NEC N900iL, DoCoMo's first WiFi cellphone, starts shipping
Your choices are basically fast and faster with the
NEC N900iL, NTT DoCoMo's new dual WiFi/3G cellphone which was announced back in July and finally started shipping this week in Japan. The big deal about putting WiFi in the phone is that you can make VoIP phone calls over a corporate wireless network while at the office, and then automatically switch to the regular 3G cellular network everywhere else. Apparently you can't make VoIP calls from a outside your corporate LAN, but you can kick back and use the phone's Internet browser and check email using WiFi rather than use the phone's 3G connection and risk running up a huge bill for data downloads.
