Yahoo's Metro Retro DVD player

So the haters who were convinced that those leaked pics we posted of
Yahoo's new consumer electronics line were complete fakery were wrong (though to be fair, even we weren't entirely sure they were real, either), but they were definitely right about one thing: no matter whose name was on them, those DVD players and TVs were embarrassingly ugly. The story is that Yahoo is just licensing their brand name to somebody who is slapping their logo on stuff made by some anonymous manufacturer, but you'd think a heavyweight like Yahoo would have gotten a little something in the contract giving them veto power over crappy-looking crap that's might actually damage their brand name, right? Guess not, because the latest new addition to the Yahoo consumer electronics line, the Metro Retro DVD player, a progressive scan DVD player with a built-in 4-in-1 memory card reader for looking at digital photos on your TV and an IR emitter for use with wireless headphones, is just as cruddy and cheap looking as the rest the line. It does have one semi-redeeming gimmick that we do sort of like, and that is retro-styled volume and bit rate meters, but if they really wanted to do that retro-nostalgia thing right they should have given the rest of the player have that boxy, Seventies electronics-look.
