New rule: no videogames in the monastery

If you were planning on taking your monastic vows, you may want to reconsider...

Thich Nhat Hanh, the renowned Vietnamese teacher, recently revised the Pratimoksha—the rules governing Buddhist monks
& nuns.  The Pratimoksha was updated to confront contemporary technological challenges that were not present in the time of the Buddha.  Included in the revised text, is this new rule:

"A bhikshu [monk] who plays electronic games including those on the computer, commits an offence for which he must express regret."

Needless to say, we here at Joystiq would be overflowing with regret!
