NEC develops CD/DVD/HD-DVD drive

NEC has developed a prototype for an optical drive that's compatible with HD-DVD, CDs, and DVDs  The company says the drive could be available to consumers as early as September of next year (it'll be demoed at CES next month).  We're still hoping for a drive that plays both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray discs, but we'll take what we can get.
