Flash iPod: no screen for you!

In the calm before the storm, the boat is leaking information. Now that we've tread the thin waters of that dubious metaphor, I bring you the news: as postulated/reported, the new flash-based iPod has no screen. Apple has taken the zen approach (put that in your pipe, Creative) to portable audio with this device.

The scoop comes from Macitynet.it, who had pictures of the new device but were forced to delete them. Their description of the Macworld Expo setup included an accompanying sign that showed images of the flash iPod along with the slogan "Life is random." They give a further description of the device: "small, with a shape more vertical than the other iPod. The color is white, and it seems like a small remote control that fits confortably in a single hand."

Personally, I grok this device. It is right up my alley. But I can see it *reallllly* pissing off the control freaks out there. :)
