MWSF: TextWrangler 2.0 Released
Apple doesn't have the corner on the market of cool announcements at MacWorld.
Bare Bones Software, developers of BBEdit (which doesn't suck) have released TextWrangler 2.0.
As some of you may remember that TextWrangler replaced BBEdit lite, the free version of BBEdit, however the catch was you had to pay for it. Bare Bones announced that
TextWrangler 2.0 is now free of charge.
Gratis. It costs nothing. Zilch.
What do you get for nothing? A whole lot, including:
- multi-file search and replace
- syntax coloring and function navigation for HTML/XHTML, PHP, XML, ActionScript, Javascript, JSP, Vectorscript,
and VBScript - the ability to compare two versions of a document and merge the changes
Why would Bare Bones do this? Because, and I quote, "We see the need for a strong, feature-rich text editor at a low price. In the past two years since TextWrangler's initial release, we have observed the crowding of the landscape with products which don't meet our standards for quality and thoughtfulness. "
