Sony's CDP-NW10 & DVP-NW50: put more gear in your walls
We're all about in-wall gadgets, believe us—well, except for the upgrade-cycles part. But Sony in-wall gadgets?
Against our better judgement, we lust! They are now offering two new in-wall audio and theater media/distribution systems (the CDP-NW10 and DVP-NW50, respectively) which are geared heavily towards new homes in construction, and transport your data via Ethernet. (Though we thought the whole idea was to create the wireless home, we'll concede the next best step is at least to hide wires in the walls.) The audio-centric CDP-NW10 has a CD player, integrated amp,
AM/FM tuner, intercom and room monitor, integrated remote, and MP3 media adapter capabilities at about $1,000 per room
(what!); the DVP-NW50 is otherwise the same but adds a DVD player, a more powerful amp, and another $1,000 to the pricetag per room. All of which basically means there's no way in hell we're ever going to bother with this stuff, but thanks for trying, Sony, and making us feel broke.
