LG might buy Siemens Mobile
Siemens isn't supposed to make a formal announcement about the future of their cellphone business until the 27th,
but it's pretty clear now that they're doing their damnedest to unload the money-losing division. There was a rumor going around on Monday that they were having trouble finding a buyer and were considering
simply shutting things down rather than continue bleeding euros (which to be honest, is a little difficult to contemplate), but a weekly business magazine in Germany is now reporting that South Korean electronics behemoth LG is interested. They're apparently just in talks at the moment, and you have to wonder how badly LG, which has been doing a decent job making a name for itself lately, really needs the Siemens brand name. Either way, we're oddly obsessed with learning how things turn out.
UPDATE:
LG says it ain't so! Maybe if we all pool our money together we could put in our own bid.
