Solar mirrors to cheer up Austrian villagers
Residents of an Austrian mountain village have been feeling depressed due to the lack of sunlight for four months of the the year, so scientists have come up with the bright idea (get it?) of installing mirrors in a sunny spot across a valley to reflect sunlight down to the village. The €2 million required to fund the project was raised by villagers and backed up EU and Austrian government grants. This is either a really good idea, or they've unintentionally created the world's biggest death ray. You'll have to wait until next winter to find out the result.
