Taxi-based cinematography
For all the non-city folk out there who see a cab ride in the big town as a fantastic novelty, meet the ultimate in fantastic novelties: Transfers is an art project (though we're still hesitant to use the term "performance art") by Matt Roberts, which composes (in real time) a movie of your cab trip via a front-mounted camera and mic and a GPS
receiver. The output is displayed on an LCD in the passenger area, and at the end of your little $8.70 trip (don't forget to tip!) you even get a CD burned with a QuickTime file of the "performance". Maybe it's the cynic in us, but we have a sneaking suspicion that the audio and video are probably both going to be pretty homogeneous, mainly consisting of the backs of bumpers and adjacent cabs honking as you're trying to make your way crosstown at 3 p.m.
