Chip-assembly nanobot being developed
The idea of microscopic assembly lines composed of nanobots has been around for a while, but for the most part efforts to actually use such technology have been limited to university labs and bad sci-fi films. Now, however,
Applied Micro Systems, and Micromechatronics, a startup out of Penn State, are reportedly working on nanobots that may be able to build microprocessors. The three-square-centimeter bot (which is probably a little too large to truly qualify as nano) will be capable of small movements, and will not be able to self-replicate or attack humans, which should be a relief to Prince Charles.
