App turns Series 60 cellphones into baby monitors

We don't know if we'd make this our primary baby monitor—personally we lean toward a motion-sensing, color-LCD,
wireless video monitor—but we do find the BabyCare application from Polish software house Psiloc to be an intriguing use for a Series 60 phone. Just put the phone in your baby's room, and it'll monitor the room's sound level and call you when the baby wakes up. That won't cut it for most new parents, who tend to treat the sounds coming out of their monitors as the ultimate late-night drama, listening to every noise emanating from their child's room. Of course Psiloc's system for emulating that mode—silently answering calls you make from a preprogrammed number and then staying on for you to monitor the room—could make this phone a great stealth monitor for checking in on nannies, older kids and even spouses.
