Jobo Giga Vue Pro: PMP with photo features
The Giga Vu Pro from Jobo Fototechnic might look like your standard me-too portable media player, with its support for DivX, MPEG4 and other common formats, not to mention its 3.8" screen, 40GB hard drive and relatively anemic two-hour battery life. But it's actually a stealth unit designed for use by digital photographers who'd also like some PMP features on their photo viewer, which positions it squarely against Epson's P-2000. Featurewise, the two are almost twins: both sport Compact Flash readers, support a few RAW modes used by digital cameras, and allow direct printing of images. The Giga Vu, however, has a few features not found on the Epson, such as PictBridge support (Epson uses its own direct-print system), the ability to add comments to images, and WiFi (via a CF-WiFi card). Both are also available for around $500 street. The bottom line: if you're looking for a portable photo vault with PMP functions,
your choices are relatively limited. While the Epson wins high marks for its screen quality (and is, after all, a better-known brand), if WiFi, PictBridge and annotating images are important to you, this unit could fit the bill.
