SunnComm claims fix for shift-key exploit
Remember
SunnComm? The geniuses whose copy-protection software could be blocked simply by holding down the shift key while inserting a CD? Well, they're back, and are making bold-but-bogus claims that their new DRM scheme will make it harder for consumers to "improperly use" a CD (meaning making a backup copy for personal use) while guaranteeing 100% compatability with CD and DVD players. But they've already thrown in the towel on the system being bulletproof, saying that some people may still find a workaround (let's see, is it Alt-Shift? Ctrl-Shift?) but that the "average consumer" won't be able to do it. Uh, last time we checked,
average consumers were spending a lot of time out on the internets, where info on breaking copy-protection is pretty easy to come by.
