Safari: set default window size?

Does anybody know if there is any way to set the default size of the window that opens when I open a new window in Safari (or when any application opens a window in Safari, for that matter)? I use
Desktop Manager and keep the desktops bar at the bottom of my screen,
which means that any time a Safari window launches (8 gazillion times per day) I have to manually readjust the size of the window so I can see the bottom of the page and the status bar.

There must be a way to automate this?! Any help appreciated, thanks!
