Video gaming reaches official academic status (finally)
USC's School of Cinema-Television has just endowed a faculty chair to Bing Gordon, CCO and co-founder of Electronic Arts. Officially, it's the chair for the study of interactive entertainment. Unofficially, it's the chair with a secret fold-out screen and a built-in SNES. To quote the Dean:
"A leader in the game industry for more than 20 years, Bing once again is making history as the inaugural holder
of the first-ever endowed chair at a university for the study of electronic gaming and interactive
entertainment."
Every two years or so a new leader in the industry will hold the chair and join the faculty as visiting professors.
What's that, Professor Miyamoto?
