Debunking that story about a virus jumping from a cellphone to a Lexus
Remember those news stories from a few weeks back about how Russian anti-virus research firm Kaspersky Lab was claiming they had been contacted by someone who wanted to know
how to cure a virus which had jumped from a cellphone to the onboard computer of a Lexus? Yeah, the whole thing seemed pretty dubious from the start (there wasn't much evidence to indicate that it had even happened in the first place), but Vmyths.com did a little digging and has debunked the whole thing. The biggest obstacle to this story being true: the onboard computer in Lexus cars isn't Symbian-based as had been hypothesized, it uses a proprietary OS. Now everyone is backtracking and saying that they only meant that it's theoretically possible for a virus to jump from a mobile device to a car, nothing more.
