Interactive flat surfaces make light switches so last minute
Buttons? Switches? Nahhh, we'll control our devices via any flat surface, thank you very much, thanks to Ariane 5 interactive flat surfaces. Developed by the European Space Agency (ESA) for European spacecraft, the technology is now being commercialized that uses small sensors to turn any flat surface such as a table or wall into an interactive area as sensitive as the keys on your keyboard. The sensors make use of an accelerometer to determine the precise position of contact, allowing multiple functions to be triggered from a single region. Very handy — just watch where you set that glass down from now on.
