Floatables: the EMR-free zone
No phone, wireless data,
GPS, WiFi, sights, sounds, or smells. Yes, that kind of total and complete information and sensory isolation is what you'd expect walking under one of Usman Haque's theoretical Floatables, devices that would leisurely levitate around a city giving all who walk under its "umbrella" near complete respite from the world, even if for just a moment. But seriously, what kind of magical cities does Haque think Americans live in that would let some freaky isolation drones float around unmonitored, unabated, and uninhibited for longer than 15 minutes before some kids (or post-postmodernists) took a Louisville to them? Information wants to be free, man.
