The Godfather interview reveals a delicate development process
David De Martini, vice president and executive producer at EA Redwood Shores, sat down with GameIndustry.biz last month and gave them a pretty thoughtful take on The Godfather game. Any time you try to turn a film license into a game you have to acknowledge the built-in pitfalls — expectations, and the shift in focus from story to interactivity. But when you're dealing with adapting a classic series of films, adored by millions of non-gamers, you better be extra careful.
So it's nice to see they're taking the move seriously. De Martini goes over some details on how the decision was made to move forward. He also touches on the effort going into conveying the emotional aspect of the films in the game. It's a tough job, but we sure hope they can pull it off. Or there'll be hell to pay!
