New DS title is a wondrous mystery

Always reliable, Kamalot, has the scoop on
(and a cry for help to understand) the puzzling new DS game, Electroplankton:

"[A] recently announced game for the Nintendo DS is a bit of a mystery. It appears to be a strange puzzle,
life-simulator, music instrument, trippy WinAmp visualization, game. Nintendo recently put up a site for the title that includes some videos of the unique and innovative title (3rd bubble) and wallpaper (last bubble). Some of the videos have classic Nintendo songs playing, apparently that you can play with through use of the touch screen. Can someone who reads Japanese explain to the rest of us what this title is all about? It looks and sounds like nothing else I've ever seen."
