Virtual reality to kill the pain

A Children's Hospital in Adelaide has been testing the merits of a virtual reality headset that allows children—suffering from severe burns—to escape into an immersive game while their dressings are changed.  While all the children in the test were given their usual dosage of painkillers, the ones that also used the headset experienced (on average) less pain.
