skiTunes

I'm not sure what to make of skiTunes. One of the applications that I almost always have open on my Mac is iTunes, and while there are lots of ways to improve it, iTunes is a rock solid application.  Apple built the entire iLife
suite around it for heck's sake!

skiTunes bills itself as an open source iTunes alternative, and there seem to be a few differences between iTunes and skiTunes:

  • skiTunes is open source
  • skiTunes is themeable
  • iTunes can play more than one file (i.e. as you can have a library larger than one song)

skiTunes is still in the very early stages of development, and it looks like they are focusing on UI at the moment.
I will keep my eye on this one for you, dear readers; someone has to.
