Polar MobileLink watch downloads vital stats to your phone
We're not quite sure why Polar deftly avoids calling a spade a spade, here, but the Polar AXN700 or AXN500 "Outdoor Computer" (aka a watch) can now take advantage of software that sends activity data (like your heart rate, speed, etc.)
direct from the "wrist unit" (aka watch) to your cellphone via IR. The MobileLink to Outdoor Sports application can be used to view the data in full-color glory on your mobile, and save it to your phone's internal memory to track your performance over time. Amazingly, if you have a close enough friend — and you've gotta be real darn buddy buddy to actually want to receive your pal's activity monitors (yeah so maybe an athletic coach could benefit from this but don't bother us with practicalities, aight?) — you can send them the data via SMS. So now we come to the point in all of our tragic tech tales where we unload the bad news: it only works with Nokia 5140 phones. So if you're an avid athlete with a Polar Not-Watch and a Nokia 5140, consider yourself a hot market segment and enjoy your 15 minutes of fame, ok?
