Navtime Japan adds aerial photos to cellphone app
Navtime Japan has added high-res, low-altitude aerial photos to its personal navigation app for cellphones. The maps can be scrolled, zoomed in and rotated just like the app's vector maps and are supposed to make for more precise navigation, although we suspect they'll be more popular as a diversion on long bullet train trips. Maybe the most useful feature is the ability to display live traffic jam information. The service costs between 210 and 315 yen a month and is intended for FOMA phones with unlimited data packet transfer plans (and if you haven't guessed yet, it's only available in Japan).
