Apples lawsuits do little to stop the flow of anonymous information

The Apple rumor biz is still going strong despite the strongarm tactics of Apple's legal department, according to reps from macosXrumors and Think Secret

In an

online interview given to the NY Times
, Alexandros Roussos, the French college student behind
macosXrumors said he was recently asked by Apple to remove an article describing the latest Tiger developer seed. He complied with the request, but said he was "disappointed" and added "I think Apple should protect itself from trade secret revelations, but not this way."

Excuse me, Alex (may I call you Alex?), but how exactly do you expect them to protect themselves if not by stopping you from revealing those very trade secrets?

The Times also spoke with Nicholas Ciarelli aka Nick dePlume, the no-longer-anonymous Harvard student behind
Think Secret who is
already being sued for publishing trade secrets and encouraging others to violate their NDA agreements with Apple. Nick still refuses to admit that he has done or is doing anything wrong and he is quoted as saying exactly that... "The important part is that I've done nothing wrong,"
he said in a phone interview with the Times. "We're staying focused on providing our audience with news. It's business as usual."

Business as usual, eh? But Nick (may I call you Nick?), your business is based on encouraging people to break confidentiality in order to provide you with the juicy Apple gossip (aka trade secrets) that Apple has asked you nicely in the past to not publish. You publish it anyway. So yeah, I think you are doing something wrong and I think it would bolster your claim that you are a true Apple fan if you stopped biting the hand that feeds you. I think ego and profit are what drive you now, although I don't doubt that you started out years ago with the best of intentions.

Being an enthusiastic Apple fan does not give you/us the right to know every move Apple makes and every intention Apple has. If you want to be taken seriously as the journalist you keep saying you are, stop profiting from being a gossipmonger.
