A new "recycling" program for old PCs

Stonehenge it's not. Art? Up for debate. But in Glasgow, artist Sandy Smith is doing something with old PCs and Macs besides stuffing them into closets and garages — he's making structures out of the old beasts. Small room enclosures and dividing walls are constructed from old machines donated by the Glasgow School of Art. In The Blackhouse, above, 60 computers and 16 monitors provide "content" ranging from audio loops of howling wind and rain to landscape views of Scotland, computer-generated landscapes and a live link to a webcam on the Isle of Skye. We suppose it could be billed as one method of recycling... but isn't the energy expenditure going to far outweigh any potential benefit to the planet?
