Wireless system sends medical data via GPRS
The medical community is going wild over wireless lately, with everything from
SMS pacemakers to
RF-enabled dental X-rays hitting the market. The latest entrant: the BodyKom, a set of sensors developed by Swedish telecom TeliaSonera, Swedish software company Kiwok and HP.
The system is capable of monitoring vitals such as heart rates, and sends messages to doctors via GPRS over TeliaSonera's network. As with other such monitoring systems, we wouldn't want to speculate on what might happen if you're out of range. Let's hope that TeliaSonera's got that covered, at least in Sweden.
