VoodooPC's OMEN d:221a -- corporate workstation?
If you've been trying to convince your corporate IT department to spring for a high-end custom gaming machine for you to use at work, VoodooPC has your number. The company is tagging their recently announced OMEN
d:221a as a professional workstation, based on features that include the ability to run four high-res monitors simultaneously (they cite the 30-inch Apple Cinema Display as an example, which has to be one of the first cases of a maker of Windows boxes hyping their ability to run Apple gear — other than the iPod, of course); dual AMD Opteron Processors; and 15,000 RPM hard drives (and, yes, they do make one in a black box, in addition to the red one shown —
but no beige). Sure, if all you do at work is run Excel and Word, you're not going to get the boss to shell out at least $5K for a PC (not to mention another $3K for each of those four Cinema Displays). But if you're a game developer or animator (or work for a bloated company with no IT-spending oversight), why not just go for it?
