Close to Combat: First to Fight
Military-themed squad-based FPS titles are quickly overpopulating the current generation of consoles. With Tom Clancy's name slapped across at least a half dozen, and the Star Wars franchise recently getting in on the action—and let's not forget the outstanding entry from Gearbox, Brother in Arms—there's a whole slew of these games; and good ones at that. So when first-time development team, Destineer, announced they'd be joining the fray with Close to Combat—Marines deployed into a "modern mid-eastern urban battleground"—most of us turned the other cheek. As it turns out, the team pulled off a solid entry in the genre, albeit a bit bare bones. But if you're a squad-based FPS junkie it's worth a look.
