Pioneer AirWare XM2Go is Time's Gadget of the Week

We assume that the criteria for becoming Time magazine's Gadget of the Week are similar to their
Man Person of the Year: the item in question has to have an impact, whether Time considers that a good thing or bad. How else to explain Ayatollah Khomeini's appearance as POTY back in 1979 — or
Pioneer's AirWare XM2Go as GOTW? After all, as Time points out, the AirWare isn't even an original product; it's a clone of the Delphi MyFi XM2Go, with an identical UI and accessories (both units are produced by Hong Kong's Giant International, which also makes its own version under the Tao brand). Like the MyFi, the AirWare is a portable receiver for XM satellite radio, and includes the ability to save up to five hours of radio for time-shifted playback. And, as Time points out, like the MyFi, the AirWare's sound quality,
UI and other features could use some serious improvement. One difference: The AirWare is $30 more than the Delphi; the extra bucks get you an extra antenna and a casette adapter that lets the AirWare double as a car receiver. Sounds like you'd be better off getting a real car/home receiver like the Delphi
Roady, and waiting for the next gen of the XM2Go line.
