MIT scientists develop shape-shifting plastic

It's been a big week for news from the UV spectrum. First, we had word of Ohio's Ecology Coatings, which has developed nanoparticle-based paints that dry when exposed to UV lights. And now, we learn, MIT scientists have developed a form of plastic that can change shape when exposed to ultraviolet light. The material is based on a polymer that includes photosensitive materials, which are activated when exposed to light of a certain frequency. The developers speculate that the technology could be used to create medical implants that are activated via fiber optics, along with shape-shifting toys. We assume that Mr. Fantastic, pictured,
is not a recipient of this technology.
