Halo 2 auto-update today

No, don't fake a stomach ailment and head home just yet, today's Halo 2 automatic update will not deliver the
new maps, but instead, will fix a number of technical issues. Bungie promises that the update will finally put an end to a number of cheats, bugs, and glitches.

But most intriguing is Bungie's decision to re-balance the weapons. At the top of the list, is the increased damage affects of melee attacks across the board. Grenades have also been made more powerful—and will carry a shorter fuse.  As for primary weapons, the Magnum has been toned down to force greater accuracy (i.e. headshots), and the SMG/Plasma Rifle combo has been "softened".
