Nextel's SMS system buried under a mountain of spam?

Any Nextel customers having trouble sending or receiving text messages? According to Wireless Week, lately Nextel subscribers have been noticing some serious delays in sending and receiving text messages. Nextel are blaming the problem on a recent avalanche of SMS
spam (as if you needed yet another reason to loathe SMS spam) that is clogging their filters and delivery infrastructure, but apparently some subscribers have been complaining about problems with Nextel's text messaging system for months now. To make matters worse, Nextel have been changing their story about the cause of the problem,
telling some subscribers as recently as last week that it was a compatibilty issue with other carriers (though to be fair, it's entirely possible that different subscribers are being affected by different issues). They're hoping to have everything cleared up this week.
