IBM and Fox team up on broadcast-flag like DRM

Sounds to us like it took a healthy dose of media corporation paranoia to get Fox to cozy on up to IBM for a new DRM
solution to ensure local media content stays local—seriously, can Fox do anything to surprise anyone anymore? The system expects devices to identify which local markets they belong to, thus making locale-centric media exchange impossible between two devices. We'll save the biz about The Man finding yet another way to limit the way end-users consume media (or even how silly it would seem for any hardware companies to voluntarily support this), but can we just say that in a world where digitally broadcast video can't be distributed out of its home locale, how would we all get to enjoy such things as the infamous weatherman with tourettes? We wouldn't, Fox, so buzz off.
