SK Telecom wants you to chat with your cellphone
Can't find any real live people to text with? Not sure how this is dramatically different than any of the AIM
chatbots which have been around for years (or Artificial Life's "virtual girlfriend," for that matter), but South Korean wireless carrier SK Telecom is offering a new service that'll let you exchange text messages with intelligent "cellphone characters" that'll reside on your handset.
They're calling it the "1 millimeter service," because that's how, uh, intimate they're expecting you to get with these new characters, which are also supposed to help you find stuff online and annoy you with questions like whether you want to download new ringtones or music files. Just don't get too attached, ok?
