Wisdom of the ancients... via SMS

Hey, it's a busy world out there. We need our enlightenment, but we need it fast and at our fingertips. If only we were in India right now we could be getting our guru on right through our cellphones, thanks to Sadhana TV's SMS guru service — viewers send in questions to their favorite guru and receive answers via text message. Director Rakesh Gupta reports receiving over 20,000 messages per day, which averages to about 500 answers per day, per guru — though the more popular gurus are likely answering into the thousands daily. Should be no sweat for the truly enlightened, although the reality may actually be that the "guru room" isn't so terribly different from the "outsourced call center" or the
"telemarketer room," with the deep and poignant answers to life being dished out from a database or prompt card. But hey, this is about speed and not quality, right?
