For sale: Siemens' mobile division, motivated seller

If you've ever felt like owning your own cellphone company, now might be your chance, because after several months of semi-public turmoil Siemens has decided to its profit-challenged mobile division up for sale. Seriously, are you interested, even a little bit? Because it sounds like they're incredibly desperate to unload the division, which is currently hemmorhaging cash at the rate of nearly $2 million a day. The question is, who would buy them? It's hard to imagine any of the biggies, like Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, or Samsung, seeing any advantage in acquiring them, and several other manufacturers,
including Ningbo Bird,
LG, and
Acer, are all rumored to have already passed on a deal.
So now's your chance to scrape together some cash and put a down payment on your dream, because if Siemens can't find a buyer for the division (or at least someone to enter into a joint-venture with them), company CFO Heinz-Joachim Neubuerger says that they're probably going to have no other option but to shut the entire thing down.
