Tiger Tunes

Tiger comes with new noises for various actions.  Emptying the Trash has a new crumpled paper sound.  Moving files from one folder to another has a new little *dink* noise.

James Duncan Davidson, one of the co-authors of Mac OS X Panther Hacks, notes on his weblog that with the help of a friend he has discovered what the music is which plays during Tiger installation: "As you may or may not know, I'm a big fan of figuring out what the Mac OS X Install Jingle is with each release of the operating system. . . .  So, what's the song? It's Bytecry by Weevil on the album Drunk On Light."

If you want to listen to the tunes and watch the video, Davidson provides the Terminal instruction for playing both files in your Tiger installation. This is very good news for me, because I never saw or heard this intro after installation. In fact, after watching the intro and listening, I think that this was what was supposed to have been playing during that frightful two minutes where all I saw was a big blue screen and my mouse pointer.
