Tiger Bits: All Roads Lead to the iTMS
Someone else has probably mentioned this already and missed it, but I noticed something neat earlier today.
You know the new "Current iTunes Track" status option in Tiger's iChat? Well if you are using that for your status message and the person you are chatting with is also running iChat under Tiger, they'll see a little tiny arrow to the right of the track name. When you see a little tiny arrow, you must click on it. It's the law.
Did you click yet? Pretty cool, eh? Should we let everyone else in on our little secret?
Ok,
I'll be nice. Clicking on that little tiny arrow launches iTunes on your end and takes you to the iTunes Music Store where you can buy the song your iChat buddy is currently playing. If the song isn't in the iTMS it brings you to the search results page and tells you "no results found." If your iChat buddy isn't on Tiger (or isn't on iChat), they'll just see the track name, but no arrow. Bummer for them.
Now listen up, Apple. I like this concept and I want to see it applied as liberally as those stupid AOL Keywords have been for years. I want little tiny arrows everywhere – especially on my television. When I
hear a song or see an Apple commercial, I want to be able to click the arrow or press a button on my peanut-shaped remote control and I want to be taken to the iTMS or the Apple Store so I can act on my impulse purchase urge. Michael agrees with me, so I must be on to something.
Get to it. I'll wait...
