Geeks Ahoy!
Have any of you ever been on a Geek Cruise? I haven't. I'm seriously considering it, though. Maybe one day I'll be a real Mac celebrity and I'll get invited to go for free! Stop laughing.. stranger things have happened.
I read today that Mac Mania IV will set sail from San Diego, Feb 4-11, 2006, destined for Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. This time, they'll be cruising in tandem with Photoshop Fling III. It's hard to imagine a better place to be in the middle of winter than on a luxury cruise liner, floating down the Mexican Riviera, surrounded by a bunch of certifiable certified Mac geeks.
Geek Cruises aren't just about fun in the sun, though. They're also educational! The 2006 cruise will offer conferences for newbies and power users of all ages. Topics include Tiger, Troubleshooting, iLife,
Automator, Final Cut, GarageBand, Adobe Photoshop CS2 and more.
For entertainment you'll be treated to the likes of The MacMania Trio (Chris Breen, Andy Ihnatko, and Bob LeVitus), the MacMania Ingenious Bar (Leo Laporte), and The Woz Hour (with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak) and The Wild Side with Andy Ihnatko.
Let's see. My birthday is February 3rd. The ship sails on Feb 4th. Think I can talk hubby into an early-bird birthday present? Better yet, maybe C.K., Scott and I can talk the boss into sending us!
