The Windows Mobile 5.0 upgrade path

Yeah, we've all been a little afraid that our valued Windows Mobile-based devices weren't going to be named in the rollcall for that coveted Windows Mobile 5.0 upgrade path, but we've got good news for some of you out there. If you're a Dell device owner (with an
Axim X50 anyway—X30 owners appear to be SOL
any way you cut it these days), or the owner of an HP iPAQ hx2100, hx2400, hx2700, or
hx4700, you're in the clear; Dell and HP have officially announced upgrades for those devices (expect to get that upgrade CD... eventually). For the rest of you out there in limbo, don't lose hope yet! If your manufacturer/OEM wasn't among the first out the door with upgrade plans, remember that today Microsoft gave precious little info about the hard technical details on the upgrade angle
(we still don't know anything about the required device specs, for instance) or any real time frame for release. In other words, it's still very early on and there's no reason they can't things sorted out for ya—in the meantime it's probably best to just give your device's maker the benefit of the doubt that they won't go all Toshiba on your Windows Mobile gadgets or anything.
